Winter Wonderland?

Well, where did that come from?   Today has definitely been a day where the right clothes are needed.  As the sun goes down and it starts to darken up the beach has a distinctly chilly look to it.

I don't think that I've ever had a snowball fight on a beach before.  I still haven't.

The Wrong Clothes

Following on from yesterday today is one of those days where I may have had the wrong clothes on.  I think in the tourist brochures around the world this kind of weather at coastal resorts is referred to as "bracing".

Well today is a day to be braced!

It's also a day to be jacketed and hatted.  And gloved!

Obviously the last week was just to lull us into a false sense of security and tempt us to switch off the heating.  Well I won't fall for that one again.

There's no such thing as bad weather.....

There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes!  ( I don't know who I stole this from but thanks whoever it was.)

Today is a great illustration of that.  It may look a bit rubbish to the uninitiated but today was a cracking day for a stroll.
As you can see even on a grey wet sort of day the Lighthouse still stands up there on the headlands.  The local wildlife were enjoying themselves too.  In fact they were enjoying themselves so much they flew out of the picture before I could press the button.  With the change to slightly bigger seas there have been sightings of the surfers back in the water along with the jet-skis flapping around doing what they do.  It's nice to see them back out there again.

Anyway I'm putting this up as my picture of the lighthouse following on from yesterday's post.  I'm still sorting through the hundreds of shots i received from you all yesterday.  ( Feel free to send more in....)

Lighthouse

I see that the grant the Covesea Lighthouse Community Company were seeking has been approved and the Lighthouse will soon become a hub for local tourism.  It certainly is one of the most striking locations in the region.

It's a building that dominates the cliff tops and is visible for miles around. ( Pretty handy for a lighthouse I hear you all cry.)

I was going to post my own picture of the lighthouse but then i thought that perhaps it was time for me to see what talents you all have with a camera.  So come on Lossiemouth (and beyond if you wish) let's be having your pictures of the lighthouse.  Let's have shots of the lighthouse in all weathers and light.  It always looks fabulous when the sun is setting in just the right place but i'm sure it could look just as spectacular from the right place in any weather.

So come on folks, get your snaps out!

Goldfinger, Goldmember and Gold........

There have been no sightings of bowler-hatted Korean wrestlers decapitating statues with their hats.  There have been no sightings of strange Dutch roller skating super criminals painting things gold.  There has however been a sighting of an Olympic Gold Medallist.

I'm sure this comes as no news to the people of Lossiemouth but it may be news to the wider world.

There are not many of these across the country I'm delighted to say that there is one in Lossiemouth.  Now the big question of the day...  Who was this postbox painted for?

Update:

We have a winner (well a correct answer ) so thanks Shiela for giving us the answer.

Heather Stanning. Who with Helen Glover won the first gold medal for Britian.

Look Out

Another gloriously sunny and warm day up on the Costa Del Lossiemouth, ( far too sunny to be sat in-front of a computer.. harrumph!) I can hear the Spanish tourist board grinding their teeth in envy.

A pretty easy one for you all today.  This picture has been taken from a position up on high.  Can you name the spot?

This location looked, until relatively recently, slightly different when it was given a more modern look and a bit of a tidy up.

There will be a follow up posting later if ( when ) someone identifies the place.

Ok, here we go, this will give it away I'm sure.

I didn't want to make it too easy so I've blanked out the name. ( for now )
